Food Truck Pastoral is the website of Christopher Cocca (that fellow on the left, also called me).
I’m a Pennsylvania-based writer, pastor, and food trucker. I’ve published poetry, fiction, and nonfiction at venues like Brevity, elimae, Pindeldyboz, Geez Magazine, Creative Nonfiction, Generate, Thieves Jargon, HuffPost, and elsewhere. I earned a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School in 2005 and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from The New School in 2011.
I grew up in the mobile food business and enmeshed in stories. Family stories, the stories of people I met on the carnival circuit, the stories I found in places like New Haven and The New School. The stories of people I’ve met on the street and in homeless camps, of people who have lived and died in those places. Stories about urban renewal, about cycles of gentrification and blight, about food deserts and farmers and folks trying their best. About trying to try my best.
